Aldi plans store yards from rival
Supermarket wars are set to break out in South Ribble after plans were submitted for a new store – yards from rivals Sainsbury’s.
Aldi Stores Limited has applied to South Ribble Council to build a supermarket on land off Cuerden Way, next to Easthams Farm, in Bamber Bridge, near Preston.
Farm buildings would need to be knocked down to make way for the development which would also include an access road, parking and landscaping.
Subject to planning permission being approved, the latest store will be built a stone’s throw from the busy Sainsbury’s site.
The supermarket would be the latest development in a busy area which already houses the South Rings Business Park, B&Q, Sainsbury’s and Matalan.
